Welcome!

Hey new comers! Welcome! So here is how this will work: if you have a blogger account, great! If you don't, you should make one. Once you do, you can follow this blog, and you'll be able to comment on anything that is posted. Every week, a new idea will be posted by one of the members. This can be any idea; a character or environment, a prop or design, and anything in between. This idea will be posted every Sunday. After it is posted, every member will get to creating! Any medium you want as long as you can upload a pic of it. You will have a week to create your design. As the admin, only I can post pictures, so everyone will have to email (rhpuckett88@gmail.com) their pics to me, and I'll post them on Saturdays, after which everyone can comment, like, and talk about each others work. Then that Sunday, someone will post a new idea and we'll start again. If you have any questions, feel free to email me or just post on the blog. Looking forward to some great collaborations with everybody! Lets be epic and make some art!

No challenge this week :(

Sorry it took me so long to post this. It was my birthday this weekend and I barely survived haha. Anyways, I will be taking 3 weeks off from the weekly challenge, and I suggest you guys do too, because Disney animation is offering their Talent Development program! I will be taking these weeks to rebuild and rebrand my portfolio, and if you are interested in the same, check out http://storyboardsecrets.com/blog/disney-opens-talent-development-artist-trainee-program/

I will post my new work at in a few weeks and hope for some feedback. Have some fun time off and apply for this position!

New Challenge!

This weeks challenge is to create something post-apocalyptic. This apoclapyse could have change the world into anything you want it to be, and you can create anything you want, be that a character, prop, vehicle, or even a city or town. However you see the world ending, show us your vision. When you submit, give me a little description of what went down and what purpose your creation serves in the new world. See you guys at the end of the week!

I wanted to create an actual apocalyptic scene. I've found myself working into environments lately and actually enjoying them for a change, so I wanted to keep developing those skills. I really like the colors I came up with, and I like the sort of humorous and cartoonish quality I was able to put into, what would normally be, a very intense and scary scene. I purposefullly left it a little obscure in message. You don't know if this guy created it, knew it was coming, or why he isn't running away. Just watching a mushroom cloud like he would a sunset.

Desafio Cinco!

Here is the challenge for the week. Since it's been so damn hot outside, let's freeze stuff up a bit. Create something using ice. Could be a character. Could be a prop. Could be an environment. But I want to see something inside of ice; preferably jagged, faceted ice that will show different levels. Thanks to everyone participating!

I call this "Discovery of the Monkey God". When I developed my ice idea, I knew I wanted to an environment with craggy rocks and jagged ice. I'm pretty happy with the final results. I like some of the depths and shades I was able to work into the glaciers and I think there is a great sense of scale in the piece. I reference Uncharted 2,where they are in the Himalayas. There are a lot of great icy landscapes in that game.

Lucas' submitted the demise of the unicorn. His idea was that we lost the unicorns to an ice storm that caught them off guard.

Challenge 4!

Sorry for the late post guys. I was moving my girlfriend this weekend and was just too busy to get to a computer. Hope everybody has a great 4th celebration! Phylecia wants us to do a gender reassignment. So, take a male or female character and redesign them as a member of the opposite sex! Stay cool in this heat everybody. Looking forward to seeing what you got this weekend!

Brock Samson from the Venture Bros. as a woman. Tried to add some pop with a cool background. Reworked the pose 4 or 5 times too and I'm really happy with the final product. I played around with some stuff that I don't usually try and got some great results.

The Third Challenge!

Whatsup members? Here is the new challenge for the week. We're going to do a little switch-a-roo! Take a well known hero and villain pair; example being Batman and the Joker. You can look at comics, movies, fairy tales, cartoons, whatever you want. Now redesign each character in the other's role. Make the hero the villain and the villain the hero. When you send me your design, include a little info as to the new viewpoint of the story. See you guys in a week!

Hansel and Gretel: They've eaten they're parents out of house and home and are thrown out on the streets out of desperation. They wander through the woods until they come across an entire home made of candy and devour it, crushing the dreams of Olga the witch. To cover their crime, they throw her in the oven and claim it was in self-defense.

Olga was a woman with a simple dream: to make people love her. Outcast from a young age because of her skin color, she took up baking as a way to make people like her. She finally raised enough money to build her dream shop, made entirely of candy, when two obese children destroyed it and murdered her, knowing that the village people would be quick to blame her over them.

Challenge Two!

For this week, we have an environment! Chris would like to see a Prehistoric dino-bar. So we're creating a bar scene from the Stone Age. You can include characters in it or just go straight environment. Chris, if you want to comment on this and give some more details, feel free. Otherwise, looking forward to everybody's work at the end of the week!

Chris feels that carnivores get more attention than herbivores, so he decided to make a bar for herbivores called Veggies. Depicted here is Veggie, the owner/bartender, who was a professional bartender in his younger days...

I decided to create a bar named Jurrasik. Admittedly, I didn't get at as much time into this as I wanted to, but I really like the idea I came up with. Here are two underage dinosaurs trying to get past the bouncer, while another patron looks on. Given more time to develop this I think I could turn it into something better. I like the beginning ideas of the teen dinos though

First Challenge!

Alright everybody, here is the first challenge! If you've been following the news much, you'll know that Michael Bay is directing a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. The twist is that, in his story, the turtles are aliens from another world. Your challenge is to redesign the turtles as an alien species. You can do all four or just one. Have fun and looking forward to your emails at the end of the week!

This one comes from myself, Ryan. My idea was that the turtles are all refugees from a destroyed solar system (possibly destroyed by Shredder some how, eh? eh?) They were all from different planets though with different atmospheres. Raph comes from a deserty rock planet, hence the bulky look.

From Chris Dobbs, a cybernetic Chelonia; Robo Leonardo. He wanted to make that his "alien" ninja turtle looked more aline than turtle. So this version of Leonardo has a robotic suit with sword that retract from the wrists and has a more extraterrestrial feel to him while keeping the attributes of a turtle, like the shell on his back. He was inspired by the aliens in the movie Independence Day (which he watched the night before) and the Protoss from Starcraft when developing this design.
