Welcome!

Hey new comers! Welcome! So here is how this will work: if you have a blogger account, great! If you don't, you should make one. Once you do, you can follow this blog, and you'll be able to comment on anything that is posted. Every week, a new idea will be posted by one of the members. This can be any idea; a character or environment, a prop or design, and anything in between. This idea will be posted every Sunday. After it is posted, every member will get to creating! Any medium you want as long as you can upload a pic of it. You will have a week to create your design. As the admin, only I can post pictures, so everyone will have to email (rhpuckett88@gmail.com) their pics to me, and I'll post them on Saturdays, after which everyone can comment, like, and talk about each others work. Then that Sunday, someone will post a new idea and we'll start again. If you have any questions, feel free to email me or just post on the blog. Looking forward to some great collaborations with everybody! Lets be epic and make some art!

Challenge Two!

For this week, we have an environment! Chris would like to see a Prehistoric dino-bar. So we're creating a bar scene from the Stone Age. You can include characters in it or just go straight environment. Chris, if you want to comment on this and give some more details, feel free. Otherwise, looking forward to everybody's work at the end of the week!

Chris feels that carnivores get more attention than herbivores, so he decided to make a bar for herbivores called Veggies. Depicted here is Veggie, the owner/bartender, who was a professional bartender in his younger days...

I decided to create a bar named Jurrasik. Admittedly, I didn't get at as much time into this as I wanted to, but I really like the idea I came up with. Here are two underage dinosaurs trying to get past the bouncer, while another patron looks on. Given more time to develop this I think I could turn it into something better. I like the beginning ideas of the teen dinos though

  1. Chris! Great job man! I love the mood you got with this piece. You are very good at getting atmospheres pinned. I really like the neon, the cigar light, and the bottles in the back, those look great. I also like the subtle textures and bumps you put into Veggie. He looks like a guy I wouldn't want to mess with! Definitely has got some great emotion playing out. As far as a critique goes, I think some of your darker shadows, especially around his head, aren't blended enough. They are too strong as far as a line goes and dont fit with some of the other great smooth transitions you have going. Also parts of the bar look flat. But overall man you knocked this out of the park!

  2. Thanks!

Yours has sort of a storybook look to it that I find fun! Granted, you may not see a lot of storybooks taking place at a bar. I think just with some refinement, like around the edges to make sure they are crisp, while keeping that sort of flat look it could turn into something really nice!
