Welcome!

Hey new comers! Welcome! So here is how this will work: if you have a blogger account, great! If you don't, you should make one. Once you do, you can follow this blog, and you'll be able to comment on anything that is posted. Every week, a new idea will be posted by one of the members. This can be any idea; a character or environment, a prop or design, and anything in between. This idea will be posted every Sunday. After it is posted, every member will get to creating! Any medium you want as long as you can upload a pic of it. You will have a week to create your design. As the admin, only I can post pictures, so everyone will have to email (rhpuckett88@gmail.com) their pics to me, and I'll post them on Saturdays, after which everyone can comment, like, and talk about each others work. Then that Sunday, someone will post a new idea and we'll start again. If you have any questions, feel free to email me or just post on the blog. Looking forward to some great collaborations with everybody! Lets be epic and make some art!

Desafio Cinco!

Here is the challenge for the week. Since it's been so damn hot outside, let's freeze stuff up a bit. Create something using ice. Could be a character. Could be a prop. Could be an environment. But I want to see something inside of ice; preferably jagged, faceted ice that will show different levels. Thanks to everyone participating!

I call this "Discovery of the Monkey God". When I developed my ice idea, I knew I wanted to an environment with craggy rocks and jagged ice. I'm pretty happy with the final results. I like some of the depths and shades I was able to work into the glaciers and I think there is a great sense of scale in the piece. I reference Uncharted 2,where they are in the Himalayas. There are a lot of great icy landscapes in that game.

Lucas' submitted the demise of the unicorn. His idea was that we lost the unicorns to an ice storm that caught them off guard.

  1. Already sketching up ideas! Should be a fun one! (get to test out my new beast of a machine I got this past weekend! - running 24GB of RAM!)

  2. Ha! Love the idea - That is one huge Monkey God ... his size is looks to be that of King Kong eh?

I enjoy the perspective the most. Would be kewl if you had snow blowing in from the top since it seems like there is a breeze blowing through the scarf.

  3. Thanks Lucas. I like the idea of adding snow, I'll try that out and may update the post later once I've changed it. I like your idea for the drawing. I think it's humorous. It'd be awesome if we found a glacier full of unicorns down in Antarctica. Hard to comnment much on the style with a sketch but I like the look of it so far. You should finish it later and send it to me so I can update it

  4. Yeah, I really wanted to develop my idea of the unicorn more - but the new addition to my family has caused me to lose a lot of the time I would normally have to put more work into the illustration.

Look forward to the next batch of art!
